Ford Co-Pilot360 is a driver-assistance suite built around a single-lens forward-facing camera mounted in a bracket at the top center of the windshield, just below the rearview mirror. The camera reads lane geometry, traffic signs, vehicles ahead, and pedestrians. A separate millimeter-wave radar sensor is mounted at the front of the vehicle — most commonly hidden behind the Ford grille oval emblem, or on some trims located in a bumper pod below the front fascia. On Co-Pilot360+ trims that radar pair drives BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. The camera and the radar are paired inputs — both feed the Pre-Collision Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Centering, and BlueCruise logic. That geometry is calibrated to within a fraction of a degree at the factory. When we remove your windshield, the camera calibration is broken. The radar calibration can also be disturbed by any front-end work that touches the grille or bumper area.

Any windshield removal and replacement, windshield bracket adjustment, suspension work, front-end collision repair, wheel-alignment change, or anything that disturbs the front grille emblem or bumper fascia invalidates the factory camera and radar calibration. Ford does not separately mark which leg was tripped; the OEM published procedure is to recalibrate both whenever the camera is disturbed, and to re-aim the radar whenever the front radar has been disturbed. BlueCruise-equipped vehicles additionally require the dynamic calibration step to confirm hands-free highway driving readiness.
Ford does not always illuminate a dashboard warning when calibration is incorrect — particularly for partial miscalibrations where the camera is only slightly off-axis. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking will brake at the wrong distance, or react to the wrong target. Active Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go will pace the wrong lead vehicle, including cars in adjacent lanes during a lane change. Lane-Centering Assist will steer toward an off-center lane position or disengage entirely. Blind Spot Information System and Cross-Traffic Alert can report false negatives on real vehicles. On Co-Pilot360+ vehicles, BlueCruise hands-free highway driving may disengage unexpectedly or fail to engage at all. Most drivers will not feel anything is wrong until the system fails to react in an actual emergency.
When we remove your Ford windshield, the Co-Pilot360 camera pod comes with it (or is detached from the glass and must be reattached to the new windshield). Either way, the precise factory geometry Ford established at the assembly plant is now broken. The camera is aligned to a fraction-of-a-degree tolerance — a 0.5° error at the camera translates to a lane-line position error of several feet at 100 yards ahead. Static and dynamic calibration re-teach the camera and the radar where straight-ahead is so Pre-Collision Assist, Active Cruise Control, Lane-Centering, and BlueCruise react on the road the car actually sees — not a road that is several feet offset from reality. On radar-equipped trims, the front-radar re-aim is a separate required step; skipping it leaves Pre-Collision Assist and Active Cruise Control operating with a mis-aimed radar even after the camera leg is corrected. BlueCruise-equipped vehicles additionally require the dynamic road-driven step to confirm hands-free driving readiness.
Ford BlueCruise is the hands-free highway-driving layer of Co-Pilot360+, and it is the standout feature on current F-150 and Mustang trims. Where baseline Co-Pilot360 Lane-Centering watches lane geometry and gently corrects steering, BlueCruise takes over the steering wheel entirely on pre-mapped, geo-fenced divided highways — your hands stay off the wheel while the system handles lane centering, speed, and headway. To do that safely, the same forward camera that powers Co-Pilot360 also has to read a high-definition map of the road against an internal geo-fence; if the camera is pointed a fraction of a degree off, BlueCruise will either refuse to engage (which you would notice) or, worse, engage and drift relative to the lane lines the map thinks it should see (which you might not notice until the system disengages mid-corner).
BlueCruise launched on the 2021 F-150 (Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum) and the 2021 Mustang Mach-E (Premium, GT, California Route 1, Rally). It is now available across the 2024+ F-150 Lightning, 2024+ Mustang, and select 2024+ Explorer and Expedition trims. Lincoln ships the same system under the name Lincoln BlueCruise (also marketed as ActiveGlide) on 2021+ Nautilus and 2022+ Navigator, and it shares the same forward-camera-plus-front-radar geometry and the same OEM published calibration procedure family. If your Ford or Lincoln is listed as BlueCruise-equipped on the build sheet or on the in-vehicle SYNC screen, the calibration protocol that runs after a windshield replacement is materially different from a regular Co-Pilot360 baseline calibration — and the consequences of a missed step are not the same either.
Every major ADAS suite uses a windshield-mounted camera — but the geometry, the additional sensors, and the calibration procedure all differ. Specialized tooling and per-OEM procedures matter. Generic "ADAS calibration" without model-specific protocol is how calibration gets skipped or done wrong.

Before we touch the glass, we scan your Ford for stored Co-Pilot360 fault codes and confirm the exact recalibration procedure Ford publishes for your model year — including which Co-Pilot360 tier your vehicle is on (Co-Pilot360 baseline, Co-Pilot360 Assist+, or Co-Pilot360+ BlueCruise) and whether your trim is equipped with the front-mounted millimeter-wave radar that requires separate re-aim. We also confirm whether your BlueCruise-equipped trim requires the extended dynamic calibration step.
We install OEM-spec glass with the correct mounting bracket geometry. Aftermarket windshields without the proper bracket flatness create camera alignment errors that no amount of post-install calibration can fully correct. On radar-equipped trims we also confirm the front-mounted millimeter-wave radar (behind the grille emblem or in the bumper pod) is undisturbed and ready for re-aim.
Ford procedures differ by Co-Pilot360 tier. Earlier Co-Pilot360 trims use static target calibration only. Most current Co-Pilot360 trims require both static and dynamic procedures, with front-radar re-aim on every trim where radar is equipped. Co-Pilot360+ BlueCruise trims require both static and dynamic procedures plus the extended dynamic step that confirms hands-free driving readiness. We perform the procedure Ford publishes for your specific model and trim — and on radar-equipped vehicles we also re-aim the front radar using OEM-compatible tooling.
You leave with a documented pre- and post-calibration report — showing the Co-Pilot360 modules passed Ford tolerance, which sub-systems were calibrated (camera only, or camera plus front-radar re-aim), the BlueCruise dynamic step status where equipped, and the system status at handoff. This is your evidence that Pre-Collision Assist, Active Cruise Control, Lane-Centering, and BlueCruise are operating correctly.
